I read a disturbing news article from the BBC titled “Dangerous taxis removed from Plymouth roads” highlighted a potential problem that could affect many taxis up and down the country:
“Hundreds of taxis have been removed from the roads of a Devon city because they are not considered roadworthy, a report has revealed. Plymouth City Council said it conducted 708 roadside inspections over 12 months on Hackney Carriages and private hire taxis……The Taxi Licensing Committee report stated that the most common reason for the removal of taxis from the roads was faulty tyres or lights.”
Obviously here in Cheshire we are a long way from Plymouth but it raises the question Do you as the passenger ever consider if the car/taxi your about to enter is road safe? I’m sure the percentage is pretty low!
You as the passenger put your trust in the driver/taxi firm to ensure vehicles and well looked after and the daily checks are performed, but in this financial climate budgets are squeezed and corners could be cut!
Always try and ensure you book with well known and well respected firms; at Top Cars we take our responsibilities very seriously!
